How much do TutorAide tutors earn?
Between $19.50 to $22.50 per hour, depending on your education level and experience. Travel compensation is added for in-home sessions. The full details are on the compensation page.
Do I need a teaching degree to become a tutor?
No. You need to be a university student or hold a degree, and to have a strong grasp of the subjects you want to teach. No teaching licence is required.
How many hours a week can I work?
That's up to you. You set your availability and matching adjusts to it. Some tutors do 2 hours a week, others 15 and more during exam season. You can change your availability during the year.
Where do tutoring sessions take place?
At the student's home or online, depending on your area and preferences. You state your means of transportation and the maximum distance you accept, and matching respects those limits.
How does student matching work?
Families submit their tutoring requests, and we offer you the students who match your subjects, your area and your availability. No prospecting on your side.
How long before I hear back on my application?
Our team reviews every application within 5 business days. If your profile matches current needs, we contact you to schedule an interview.
What does the background check involve?
Most of our students are minors, so the background check is mandatory for all tutors. It happens after the interview and we walk you through the process.
Do I choose my subjects and levels?
Yes. In your application you list every subject you want to teach and the highest level you cover for each, from elementary to CEGEP. You'll never be assigned a student outside those choices.
Do I need to provide a résumé?
A résumé is optional. The form covers the essentials of your profile, and you can email your résumé afterwards to round out your file.
